Thomas Telford celebration Langholm 2007
« on: Saturday 27 October 07 02:52 BST (UK) »

Did anyone attend the Thomas Telford (civil engineer) celebration in Langholm Scotland in September (?) this year - i.e. 250 years since his birth?
His father was John Telford/Telfer b 1724.
His uncles were James Telford/Telfer b c1720 Eskdale and
Thomas Telford/Telfer b c1723 Langholm.
Are there any descendants of uncles James and Thomas?

There's a thread somewhere about this and his will - last year. It may have been a descendant. I'll check.

Thankyou Gadget.
I didn't read that thread last year.  I shall follow it through.
Telford the engineer didn't marry or have children.  I am descended from one of his two uncles I believe - there is gap in information to be bridged.
Was it Uncle George/James Telford who was employed at "Tail" Canonbie, OR  Uncle Thomas Telford who moved to Flatt/Bewcastle area from whom I am descended?!
Of course in those days they tended to move back and forth across the border, just to make the puzzle more complex.
One day I  shall bridge the gap, hopefully/maybe.
