« on: Monday 10 October 05 04:55 BST (UK) »

I am looking for some information about the descendance of Finlay McRae
From previous family research I have this information. I am now searching the children in subsequent census (1881 ? and further)

1.   Finlay MacRAE  died about 1922 in Largs, Ayrshire, SCOTLAND.

Finlay married Annabella MacDONALD  daughter of John MacDONALD and Matilda or Madgdalene MacKENZIE about 3 Mar 1864 in Applecross, Ross & Cromarty, SCOTLAND. Annabella was born on 11 Feb 1843 in Applecross. She was christened on 11 Feb 1843 in Applecross. She died after 1922.

They had the following children:

2   M   i.   Duncan MacRAE  was born on 26 May 1865 in Lochalsh, Ross and Cromarty, SCOTLAND. He died on 5 Jun 1865.

3   F   ii.   Annabella MacRAE  was born on 20 Aug 1866 in Lochalsh, Ross and Cromarty, SCOTLAND. She died on 15 Jan 1867.

4   F   iii.   Jessie MacRAE  was born on 14 Apr 1868 in Lochalsh, Ross and Cromarty, SCOTLAND.

5   F   iv.   Madeleine MacRAE  was born on 9 Mar 1870 in Lochalsh, Ross and Cromarty, SCOTLAND.

Smiley Thank you very much ...that's them. Your info allows me to know where Finlay was born and to add an additional child in the family (Margaret)

I don't know if you have looked at the Highland FHS site on http://www.highlandfhs.org.uk/Index.asp  They have a searchable 1851 index which includes Lochalsh. There are a number of Finlay McRae (no Macs for search) showing in Lochalsh.

The on-line search is alpha only so does not give you family groups.  Census booklets are availabe to buy (£2.70 plus postage for Lochalsh). I have never used them so I would suggest that you check with them first to see how the data is shown in the booklets, ie confirm the data is by address/family group.  Hopefully you can find young Finlay and his parents/siblings.

Regards.
