Is there a way that I can arrange to have just the main 3 or 4 boards that I am interested in grouped together and presented when I open up ROOTSCHAT?... a sort of MyRootsChat

Just a smallish list of boards would be easier to use than having to scroll down to one and then go back to the main list and then down to the next.

... just a thought!

Hi Malcolm,

Yes, just click on the little arrow at the left of the names on the main boards.

Then you can "collapse" them,(just show that one heading) or "expand" them (show the contents - child boards) within that board.

It makes it faster to load the page, too, when you don't show everything.

regards,
Bob

For those of us who only use the 'Show unread posts' it is a great saving  Cheesy

No, that's not quite what I had in mind.

If I were interested in, say, West Riding of Yorkshire and Huntingdonshire and Technical Help, it would be nice to have an opening screen with just those 3 boards on.  Plus. of course, a facility to add/remove others at a later date.

regards

Sorry Malcolm, but that is impossible.   Sad

The expand/collapse facility is only built in to the index page.

The general programming principle here is the user chooses a board, and the browser page for that board is created and sent to him/his broswer.

What you are asking for would mean rewriting parts of the forum software to able to choose bits of different pages to be put together in one page.

I shall have a think about that (just the thing to wile away the sleepless nights  Smiley ), but I can't think of an easy answer to that right now.

Bob

ps a quick fix (for your example) would be to collapse everything except England and the Common Room
Then at least Huntingdon, Yorkshire and Technical help are all visible, and one click away  Smiley
