I cannot find a George Wilby of Burtonwood on
the 1901 census   Sad

The census return was RG 13/4307  Hemsworth Yorkshire page 88.  If you are looking on Ancestry they have transcribed the name as Willy.

George Wilby aged 37 born Barnsley
Hannah Wilby aged 37 born Ireland
Elizabeth Wilby aged 14 born Warrington
George Wilby aged 3 born Burton Wood

There seems to be a large gap between George & his
sister Elizabeth.

Have you found Elizabeth & her parents on the
1891 census?

I can't find them on any other census.  I have tried all sorts of combinations but to no avail.

I found Elizabeth's birth on FreeBMD as Sept qtr 1886 Warrington 8c 185, which ties with the reported census details. However I can't find George - as I haven't access to the census I'm just wondering if the age is either mistranscribed or is incorrect- I've searched on FreeBMD for Warrington registered Georges with a plausible surname & found

George Arthur WELSBY Mar 1890 Warrington 8c257
George Stanley WELBY Dec 1894 Warrington 8c221
George Albert WELSBY Mar 1901 Warrington 8c259
The last could be 3 months at census date (just a thought)

I have found a George born in 1898 in Preston and he is looking the most likely son at the moment.  I have sent for the certificate as a last resort.

This is proving a headache.
