Hi
Can anyone help. I am trying to find more information on the parents of Alexander Murray born 10 Aug 1813 in St Fergus Banffshire. They are Elizabeth Slater born abt 1793 in St Fergus and Arthur Murray b.abt 1786 in Longside Aberdeen. I am looking for DOB, marriage dates, DOD, but my searches have proved fruitless. Thanks

Hello Roy,
There is a submitted entry in the IGI for the baptism of Arthur MURRAY in 1786 in Longside, ABD. A check on ScotlandsPeople finds that it is there also - same date, same place, same parents (except that mother's surname includes a 'p').
There is one other child to the same parents in Longside in the IGI.
The marriage of Arthur's parents is also on the IGI - extracted entry, 1779, Lonmay ABD.
Regards,
JAP

Hi again Roy,
There is a submitted entry in the IGI for Alexander MURRAY's baptism in St Fergus in 1813. But the mother's name is shown as Elisabeth SLAIKER.
There is an extracted entry in the IGI for the baptism of Elisabeth SLAIKER in St Fergus, Banff-shire in 1792. And a sibling in the same batch.
And a possible birth for Elisabeth's father in Lonmay, ABD in 1777?

Armed with information from the above searches, a free search on SP (refining parameters) finds the death of an Elizabeth MURRAY, other surname SLAIKER, mother's m.s. BEADIE, died 1864, St Fergus Banff-shire, age 72.

Hi
After your searches I looked again at the marriage certificate for Alexander Murray and Slater with hindsight now looks like Slaker and Lawrence (Isabella' mother, Alexander's wife) definitely looks like Laurance (see other post)

Just to say Elizabeth Slaiker's death certificate (13 Oct 1864) confirms husband and parents as you have suggested.
Still no luck finding their marriage despite trying several combinations, IGI and use of *'s

The names on the cert look like SLAKER and LAWRANCE to me.
I haven't found a marriage either.
