Can anyone please give some advice on the brick wall I have hit with my 3x great-grandmother Catherine Bailey, of Bath?
She was born Catherine Hayward, c1806 and married first John Densem in 1821. As a widow she married secondly Samuel Bailey, in 1843. Together they kept the refuge for destitute travellers on Bath's Abbey Green, until Samuel hanged himself there in 1870. The newspaper report of the time refers to Catherine having found his body. After that - no trace. Her children are listed in subsequent census returns, but there is no sign of Catherine. I have checked marriage and death registers using her maiden, married and second married name to no avail. The only slight clue is that two of her Densem grandchildren emigrated to Canada. However, Catherine does not appear on any Canadian census returns, either. Someone, somewhere must have a clue.....

Have you tried the emigration part of the rootschat?
They were a great help to me and helped me find a branch of my family who emigrated to Canada in about 1906 and I am now in touch with their descendants.
