Russell, Henderson, Hardie.
« on: Tuesday 30 October 07 16:51 GMT (UK) »

I've got James Russell ( born abt. 1779, Falkirk, Stirling.) married to Margaret Henderson( born abt.1783, Longcroft, Stirling) They married 7.12.1804. The IGI states that a daughter, Euphemia Russell was born 5.6.1814 in Denny, Stirling. I found only one child of this marriage.

Then I found  a James Russell (could only find a birth year of1779) married to Catharine Hardie, 910.1814 in Larbert, Stirling. It shows a daughter, Euphemia Russell who was christened 12.12.1814, and a son James Russell christened 30.11.1817 in Larbert, Stirling.

With there being a difference of ten years between the two marriages, I am wondering if this is  the same James Russell who perhaps lost his first wife and then  remarried!

I am at a loss as what to do next and would be very grateful for some advice.

Thanks in advance

Sorry I can't help on the marriage problem but I would be wary of the Euphemia baptism parents James and Margaret as it is submitted not extracted. However the one who is daughter of James and Catherine has been exctracted by the LDS church, having said that I know that all these should really be checked with original records.

Hi Betty,

Go back and read through last year's thread:

You might be able to make sense of all the information now.

Hi Anne,

I got the marriage of James Russell and Margaret Henderson from the OPR marriages on SP (7.12.1804) I found no matches on SP for a marriage between James Russell and Catharine Hardie, but on the IGI I found their two children, Euphemia and James.

I found Euphemia's birth  on the OPR.  ( It said " lawful daughter of James Russell and Margaret Henderson. I also found on the OPR the other Euphemia Russell with a birth date of Dec. 12 .1814. The parents were James Russell and Catharine Hardie.

It looks like my theory about the two marriages were wrong! I'm well and truly flummoxed now.
