John Sinclair married to Anne Guthrie
« on: Tuesday 06 November 07 17:53 GMT (UK) »

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum so here goes my first post.

I have been trying to trace my ancestors John Sinclair and Ann Guthrie. They were born, according to the 1821 South Ronaldsay census, in South Ronaldsay. Their births are estimated as circa 1762 for John and circa 1760 for Ann. They had the following children, John circa 1790, Peter circa 1792, Ann circa 1796, William circa 1801, James circa 1804. All the dates are taken from the 1821 census and are all said to have been born in South Ronaldsay. However, I cannot find any record of John and Ann's marraige, deaths, nor the births of their children.
This is my dead end, so any information would be gratefully appreciated.

I have a website www.williesinclair.com which has details of my Orkney ancestors.

Yes I have the 1821 and 1841 census for them, so I know they existed, but from where, I have the Sinclair MI's for the parish of South Ronaldsay as well and can find no record of their burial on it. They are a real mystery. I have the marraige certs and death certs of most of their children as well.
