1881 John Copestake was a Boarder with the Fletcher family 1871 John Copestake was a farm servant and "living in " with the Rodger family (who were his employers.)
on the census forms the first person listed in the household is described as "head" and the rest of the people in the household the "status" (e.g. brother, sister, son Boarder) refers to their relationship to the head of the household -not the person directly above them -unless of course that person is the "head"
Someone listed as "Boarder" means that person pays "board" to the head of the household and eats with them -in their "rent" food is included.
if a person is listed as "Lodger" it usually means that person pays rent to the head of the household, but usually lives separately -usually it means they rent a room in the house and buy their own food.
Eliza is described as a widow in 1901 1901 South St South normanton Derbys Eliza Copestake Head Widow 50 Kilburn John Copestake son U 25 Coal Miner Kilburn Will Copestake son U 21 Coal Miner Kilburn Arthur Copestake son U 17 Kilburn RG13 3136 75 34

1851 Horsley Martin Taylor Head M 31 ag lab Horsley Ann wife 30 FWK Cotton Horsley William son 11 Horsley Elizabeth daughter 9 Holbrook Derbys ELIZA daughter 7 Horsley Martha daughter 5 Horsley James son 2 HO107 2144 279 13
(FWK = Frame Work Knitter)
1841 Kilbourne Derbys Martin taylor 20 ag lab Ann 20 William 1 all born in county HO107 188 6 6
(on 1841 census it doesn't give "head of household" or relationships -ages are usually rounded down to the nearest 5 years (except for children under 15) So for example -martin's age is given as 20, so he could be anything between 20-25 also there is just "Y" or "N" (Yes or No) at the side of each name -this just means they were born in the county they were living in -no actual names of towns etc are given If a person was born in Ireland or Scotland it would state I or S
Possiblre marriage Sept qtr 1839 belper district Martin taylor Ann Parker 19 343
Possible death for martin Mar qtr 1870 age 49 7b 355
Hope this helps
