Accessing probate inventories
« on: Tuesday 30 October 07 23:03 GMT (UK) »

I am having difficulty in accessing the probate inventory for Hackney, Middlesex. The will of Robert Inwood is dated Dec 8, 1846. According to the death duty register- PC Court/ Register 4/Folio 930. Will info: Prob will cat ref " PROB 11/2047  Piece Vol 19 Quire # 901-950. I checked on A2A but could not locate probate inventories for this time period in this location.

All advice would be much appreciated!

Hi Meliora,

Thanks for that information but I do already have a copy of the will. It was my understanding that the probate inventory was something quite different and a lot more detailed and it was this I am trying to get hold of (or at least find out if it exists for Robert Inwood).

I suggest you contact the Principle Probate Registry to see if an inventory exists.

Probate  Registry of the Family Division,
First Avenue House,
42-49, High Holborn,
London,
WC1V  6 NP

Alternatively, try the Hackney Archives,

Hackney Archives Dept.
43, De Beauvoir Rd.,
London,
N1 5SQ

good luck,
