Help needed to go further
« on: Thursday 01 November 07 21:02 GMT (UK) »

I have a birth certificate for GG Grandfather Robert William Cox dated 18th November 1837 in the Registration District of Lambeth.

It shows his Father as Thomas Cox and Mother as Anne Cox formerly Sargeson lately Collins.

I am stuck and cannot find anything about these two. A marriage certificate would be helpful. I don't understand the "lately Collins" bit either. Does it mean she has left Thomas Cox and with someone called Collins? Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Hello stokepoges - a warm welcome to Rootschat

Ann Cox's single name was Sargeson but she was previously married to a Mr. Collins before her marriage to Thomas Cox.

Hope this helps.........
