Checking guests and users online

When checking to see how many guests and users are online, you used to be able to click on [57Guests 89users] and see what they were all up to.

This was recently the subject of discussion on another post.

I tried to check yesterday and again today and I am no longer able to click on this to see what we're all doing.

Is it just me, or has some modification taken place?

Hi Ruskie,

Trystan is working on various aspects of RootsChat to improve performance and lessen the down-times.

The "more stats" and "users online" facilities are both 'resource-hungry' so they have been turned off for now.

Thanks, Bob, for the explanation!

I realise that Rootschat has to be "tweaked" to make it work more efficiently, and think that these are things we could do without, if necessary.

Thanks from me too Bob - I'm with Marie - not necessary features. I did look at the stats once and they were fairly interesting, but I wouldn't miss them if they weren't there  Wink.

It was useful to be able to check if someone else was already answering a post, or if the person you had just done a look-up for was reading it (in which case it was a good idea to keep open the windows with any complementary information about the seeked person) or if your friends were answering your PMs etc. (Can't say I found it interesting to know what all the guests were doing though! Huh)

Not missing the stats much either but the Memberlist was handy! Less easy to PM someone when they're not online now!  Sad

Could admin maybe consider giving the feature back to RootsChat Nobility?  Tongue
(or, if that's too much riff-raff, to those with 14,729+ posts?  Grin Grin)

Tati - I do agree with you, but not only for people with 14,731 posts!  Shocked Tongue Shocked

I often used to have a peep and see which threads the majority of people were reading if I hadn't been online for a while .. posts which I normally would have missed otherwise!  Sad

That's what I was finding it useful for as well; I found some interesting threads that I had previously missed that way.
