Hello Lesley ,

i have come across a William Guise who was , it seems, a close friend of one of my ancestors. It seems that they left Worcs together about 1810 to settle in Oxford.
this William was born in Crowle.

All the best in your searching  Cheesy

...there are numerous GUISE families in Worcester and the surrounding areas...

...my GUISES are from Dodderhill, Droitwich...

...am looking for the family line of a William GUISE, b. 1630s Worcester, tailor...

I have ancestors coming from Claines, north of Worcester. one of them was a baker too .
How lovely to know what trade your William had so long ago.

Of course there are several spellings of Guise as well.

Hi
GUISE..(tailor) was hanged just before the battle of worcester 1651, as a traitor......he informed Cromwell about the movements of CharlesII and as such, paid the price!!...his widow was granted by Cromwell £100 per year afterwards....

cheers
