Help with date needed
« on: Friday 12 October 07 17:33 BST (UK) »

Hi all,

Could anyone help with the approx date of when this photograph was taken?

The elder lady in the pic Florence Gibbons was age 22 in 1901 with no occ. so think it is post then.

Any help or input appreciated

Cas

Hi Cas

I don't think she was all that elderly  Grin I'd say maybe early 30s and the date looks roughly 1912-1920- most likely the earlier years.

Hi Both,

Did not mean that Flo/Florrie was elderly, but older than the other female, which maybe her younger sister Gertrude born 1902? or perhaps just a helper in the shop?

There is a message on the back she sent to another sister, Elsie, asking about an aunt / uncle so trying to pin down which uncle (with dates) to fit.  Thanks both I think the timeframe you have is about right

Hi John,

Please could you repost to a new thread... it might get overlooked if you add it to someone else's thread that has been sorted.

Hello Cas, There is no indication in the book when this was taken. The text says the shop was demolished in 1962 & we know that Welch's boot maker was at that address in the 1914 Kelly's directory.

Bedford Archives - search the archives - has an entry for Welch at 2 Midland Road in 1913  http://blars.adlibsoft.com/wwwopac.exe?DATABASE=catalo>archives&LANGUAGE=0&DEBUG=0&BRIEFADAPL=../web/adapls/wwwreq&DETAILADAPL=../web/adapls/wwwreq&%250=400117564&LIMIT=50
