Scarborough Parish Register
« on: Wednesday 31 October 07 20:00 GMT (UK) »

Hi
Does anybody out there have access to a transcript of Scarborough Parish Registers to help me answer the questions below

Walker
2nd April 1770 Robert Walker married Jane Lownsdall At Scarborough (IGI Batch M053884)
4th April 1770 baptism Mary parents Robert and Jane Walker at Scarborough (IGI Batch C053884)
19th June 1775 baptism Jane parents Robert and Jane Walker at Scarborough, (IGI Batch C135649) baptism
22nd December 1779 baptism Elizabeth, daughter of Robert and Jane Walker. (IGI no Batch No)

Questions
Are there any other references to this family? I do not understand why the three baptisms in 7 years do not have the same batch number.

Cass
21st May 1757 Wm. Cass married Margaret Johnson at Seamer (IGI Batch M106182)
21st April 1768 baptised Ellis parents William and Margaret Cass at Scarborough (IGI Batch C053884)
27th January 1770 baptised Rebecca parents William and Mary Cass at Scarborough (IGI Batch C053884)
15th January 1771 baptised Sally parents William and Mary Cass at Scarborough (IGI Batch C053884)
29th August 1774 baptised William, son of William and Margaret Cass. (from Jon Webster)

Questions
Are the mothers name in the 1770 and 1771 baptism correct; is it Mary or is it Marg i.e short for Margaret?
The marriage at Seamer is too early for the baptisms; is there an appropriate marriage in the Scarborough Parish register?
Many Thanks for your help
Brian

Hi,

I noticed that you have records for Cass family members in Scarborough.  My GGGrandfather was James Cass, born 1867 in Scarborough. He moved to Grimsby and married an Emma Bray. I think that James' father was also named James. He was a brickleyers labourer.  I wonder if you may have come across any details of the Cass family in Scarborough through your search.

Thanks
