The Saunders family originally from Berkshire but living in Kentish Town from at least 1863 onwards.
The family was split up after the death of both parents in 1870. The three youngest children being sent to the Muller Orphange in Bristol and Albert was sent to Canada, aged 12, under the British Home Children scheme. I have details of these four children and also my greatgrandmother Ellen who was the eldest and married by the time her parents died.
It is the children in between Ellen and Albert that I am looking for. They are William Whitfield Saunders born 1854 in Pangboure, Berkshire and listed on the 1861 census as a scholar aged 7 and Mary Saunders born 1856 in Readin, Berkshire and listed on the 1861 census as aged 4 years, on the 1871 census as a servant living in Islington aged 14 and on the 1881 as a general servant living in Surrey and aged 24.
After these censuses no trace can be found of either of them. Their was some talk in the family amongst older members (now deceased) about being taken to see grandmother Ellen's sister in Portsmouth - she was married with a daughter Gertrude. We are unable to trace this at present and would be glad if anyone could give us information regarding either William or Mary.
