Hi folks

Im wondering if anyone has access to the Parish Records for Whitchurch Herefordshire... I'm looking for details about the marriage of John Evans and Susan(nah) Preece on 23 Dec, 1824. Thanks very much for your time and effort as always - greatly appreciated!

Susannah Preece and John Evans Married at Whitchurch, he was from Bridstow. Further details such as  the witnesses will be in the marriage register held at Hereford Records Office.  Harold Street,  Hereford HR1 2QX

Hi

I was wondering if someone could a look-up for me.

I have a Florence Maud Smith living and married in Whitchurch in 1927. The family owned a bungalow in Symonds Yat. I am trying to find a birth place for her (b.1899) and her father Reuben George Ballard Smith.

Any information would be greatly appreciated

Hi Louis,

An initial look on the 1901 census suggests two possibilities for Florence Smith bn c. 1899 living with her father Reuben.  Obviously though, that is reliant upon the accuracy of transcription etc.  Do you have Florence's marriage cert?  What profession is Reuben given?  And who were the witnesses - they might give clues as to which family is the correct one.

Anyway, the two Florence Smiths with Reuben fathers are:

Thanks for looking!

I recently ordered the marriage certificate. He is listed as a Caterer. My grandmother remembers that he owned a Faggot & Peas shop in Wales, but this was in 1927, so he may have changed since then...

Looking at those results, they dont instantly strike me as strong possiblities, but I dont know where he was born, so we cant rule then out.

My grandmother believed that Florence was the oldest, and there were no more than maybe 2 siblings. I am waiting for the Monmouthshire 1911 census to follow a lead, and I have ordered a birth certificate from Gloucestershire record office concering Reuben. I am waiting for a call to say whether they have found him or not!

Fingers crossed!  Wink

(Also, I checked out the second Reuben, and his birth record names him as Reuben Lewis R Smith)
