Hi Muffin..... I have a christmas prezzie for you....I finally managed to get down to the Surrey History Centre - which was really interesting and the staff were lovely and helpful (thanks if any of you are rootschatters
So - I've found out a bit more about Edith Snook and a few bits of other family info. I have some photos of the docs for you too.

First bit of info:
Edith Snook was Head Teacher at Frimley Council Infants School from 1907 (her salary was approved to commence from 1st July 1907 and was £83 per annum. It would have been £88 but £5 was deducted because she was "untrained") Interestingly, the managers of Frimley School had been considering applications and hers "was received independently by recommendation by HM Inspector"
The log books show a couple of entries for her for little issues about the school - but the main references appear each July when she asks for a pay rise. (She gets it each time).
There was an annual increment approved to her salary each year to 1911. I don't have one noted for 1912 but maybe I just missed it. However, on 1st April 1913 the minutes note her resignation letter of 1st March 1913 to take effect on 6th June 1913. They accept resignation "with regret" and have appointed a new head teacher by 1st July. ( I wonder if she left because she didn't get a pay rise - or maybe she didn't ask because she knew she was leaving. Or maybe I just missed it)
It doesn't say why she left or where she went unfortunately. One thought I had was that maybe she was getting married. Presumably you have searched for this. I had a quick look starting after 1913 but nothing came up in the right area although there are lots of Edith Snooks with various middle initials.
So - there is some background info on her and a start date but we already knew she was there in 1913 so not much further on really....

Tried to find her at a school before 1907. Had a look at Log Books for Maybury Board School
Infants & Primary - Boys and also separate Girls school.
There was no mention of her name in any of them. But there was mention of other teachers. There were staff lists for some years but she was not included. It is possible she just wasn't mentioned but I think it more likely she didn't work there even though it was very local for her home.
Also checked the Woking & District Teacher's Association/Goldsworth Teachers Association minutes - which started in 1916. In case she was at another school later in her career - but no mention there either. (I looked until 1926 then gave up)
So - no new info here.
Any suggestions anyone?
