Hi
I've got a family at the Saracen's Head in Derby in 1859. Does anyone know if it is still there please?

Hi Emms,
I'm not from Derby but I've done a quick google and it appears there is a Saracen's Head still there, address at 17 Victoria St, Derby, DE1 1ES
There's a link with a not-so-good photo and a little bit of info; http://www.derbyshireuk.net/shirley.html I think the address of this place is The Saracens Head, Shirley, Ashbourne, Derbyshire DE6 3AS
Lisa.

There are also two lists in the Pigot's Commercial Directory of 1835:
Saracen's Head, Mary Dowdeswell, Brailsford Saracen's Head, Robert Goodall, Shirley

Hi Lisa
You can't get quicker than that, can you? Thank you very much! My Saracen's Head is in Derby itself, Derby St Peter's area, so next I need to find Victoria Stree. A map in the morning!
Thank you for the other Saracen's too. It was interesting to see.
Thank you again Emms

Hi and Thank You! again!
Mine is definitely Derby itself but it's interesting it's not listed with those. I do have another pub name on another census, and I wondered if it had changed its name. I will look it up!
Thanks Emms

PS I've loop and I don't think that's relevant. It was St James Lane but it was a victualler's so it may not have been a pub. The other pub was in All Saints Derby. Not St Peter's.
Thank you again.

I was going to say, the first Saracen's Head I sent you, on Victoria Street, leads on to St Peter's Street, and there's also a St Peter's Church Yard nearby.
Not sure if it's the Saracen's Head any more as I've gone to more sites, but it's still a pub.
Doesn't matter, but good luck. Kind Regards, Lisa.

Hi Lisa
That's brilliant. It looks as if it's very likely still there. Your local knowledge of the place, really pinned it gown. Thank you!
Best wishes
Emms
