This is a great site for looking up birth, marriage and deaths between 1621 and  1799 in Quebec for catholic church records, but this is a pay site when wanting more information. Wink

I found my 4xgrandfather and other relatives, this site is highly recommended! Cheesy

Just rec'd this update from Ancestry about the Drouin Collection....

Coming Soon to Ancestry.ca: Drouin Collection
This collection of records, acquired from the Drouin Institute in Canada with cooperation from the University of Montreal, is considered to be the best genealogical resource for French-Canadian research. It contains the names of 37 million people collected on church records in Quebec, Ontario, and other U.S. French regions from the late 1600s to the 1940s. Churches, not the government, were the main record keepers during this period.

this is now up on ancestry,.....  be warned there is no index to people - you have to know the parish and read the parish registers... for the most part they are in french.............

but there's lots of info if you can translate it....

Great Tommy, thanks for the heads up!!

While looking at the site, saw this bit of info....

With cooperation and support from experts at the University of Montreal, Ancestry is in the process of indexing the collection. Currently, all of the images are accessible by browsing through time periods and locations. Ancestry will post the index and provide a French interface for improved searching as soon as they become available.

Early Marriages In Quebec
« Reply #10 on: Monday 08 October 07 19:08 UTC (UK) »

Hi There, Cheesy

I've found this site (Your Folks) www.mesaieux.com/an/default.htm on early Quebec marriages.

I found many of my McFarling ancestors, spelling variations, and i'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Regards
