Ivie McGill would have been born about 1795, married about 1814 to Helen Harvie. Children possibly 4 born in Kilmarnock, Helen Harvie must have died and he married Janet Galt in 1919. They moved to Stevenston, Ayrshire. Not in the 1841 census but in earlier Rev. Landsborough lists. Does anyone know if Ivie was the form of another name? or anyone else have an Ivie in their tree. Annie

Hi Annie
On a search of Scotland's People I have found 2 children that are Ivie and Helen's only
08/08/1818 MCGILL JAMES IVIE /MCGILL HELEN HARVIE FR1092 CHILD 4 U Kilmarnock (Ayr) /AYR 597/ 0040 0327
4 17/03/1816 MCGILL JEAN IVIE /MCGILL HELEN HARVEY FR1063 CHILD 2 U Kilmarnock (Ayr) /AYR 597/ 0040 0272
No children have shown up with Janet Galt as parent
Ivie isn't a name I have heard before except the female version Ivy.

Thank you for that. I also had a Marion found on Rev.Landsborough lists and always thought she was a child to Janet Galt, but I finally found her marriage then her death which states she was born to Ivie and Helen Harvey, so she is the 3rd child. Was trying to prove that a William McGill born A1820 and married Elizabeth Hamilton, was also a child, but he looks like he died before 1851. Will keep looking though.

Hi Annie
As there are no death certs pre 1855 best place I think is to see if National Archives Scotland have any mortcloth records for dates and place you are looking at.
Best wishes
Ann
