Topic: Cannot upload info. to web space. (Read 277 times)

I received the message about the web space I'd applied for and forgotten about - 'twas quite a while ago that I applied! - so I followed the instructions by Berlin Bob and tried to upload my transcript of Great and Little Badminton's Bishop's transcripts it's only a 96 Kbytes document written with Wordpad and has the extension .rtf.
However, when I tried to upload as Bob instructs I was given the message :-
"Following file(s) has been uploaded or removed:
File 'Badminton.rtf' have bad extension."
I've tried with smaller .rtf doc's and get the same reply.
It may be significant that I recently installed the freeware programme "Open Office".
.jpg pic's uploaded OK when I tried that.
Can anybody help please.

yep, looks like you read the manual:
"The following list of file types are the only file types permitted on RootsChat Webspace members sites. All other file types are not permitted:
js, swf, au, snd, ged mid, midi, ram, wav, gif, jpg, wrl, vrml, css, html, htm, rtf, png, psd, ico, doc, php, sql;
Any other files located by RootsChat Webspace will be automatically deleted.
The maximum upload file size is 1 MB.
The limit for jpegs is 1 MB, for gifs is 1 MB and for HTML or Text files is 0.5 MB."
I seem to recall we had problems about this before, that listed file types were rejected 
I'll give Admin a shout ....

Good-oh and thanks but when I thought to give it a try I received this message when trying to log in:-
"Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@rootschat.net and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. "
The time was approx 0815 GMT - honest, I did nothing amiss!!

Phew Chash I'm having the same problem and I also thought my puter was having hissy fit... there may be some repairs or other fiddling about going on in the webspace server... I'm sure they'll have it up and running ASAP!
