I ordered a certificate from the GRO today - £7 is converting to less than $16. It's a great time to get those orders in.

I haven't ordered one for a while but the last one cost about $21.

Subscriptions to UK based sites will also be better value for us Aussies!


... ooops ... seemed to have posted this in Emigrants which is not quite right ... please move to a more appropriate board if necessary ....

This is the only place that this Aussie would see your post  Grin  and one does need certificates to back up research of our emigrating ancestors.

Thanks for reminding me - when our dollar first started doing well I brought two at once!  maybe I will get three this time.

And, on the other side of the pond, it will work out more expensive for them to purchase our certificates.

The Canuck buck too is doing extremely well right now - today $1.08US.  Also doing well against the pound, but not sure of the figures at the moment.

I've also been spending on SP - first time the 6 pounds has cost me less than $15.

I do remember when I went to US in 1978 (aging comment) - our dollar was worth $US1.15 - memories!

if we in  the UK want some US certificates they will be cheap too, half price in fact £1. = 2 USD
