Hales
« on: Thursday 08 November 07 19:04 GMT (UK) »

Hi all

I am trying to find any info on an Elijah Hales born 16/04/1842 in Bunwell twin to Elisha. Elisha died 24/02/1844 in Bunwell. I ahve been unable to find Elijah on any census before 1871. He married in Hull to a Lavinia Newmarch on 21/09/1864.

This looks like the family in 1851

Forncett St. Peter.

Looks like Elija has been ennumerated as Elizth and female. Tongue

They have a younger son Elisha, and there is a death for an Elisha in 1844 in the Depwade district, who could be Elijahs twin. Wink

This is going to be a bit confusing. Roll Eyes

1861, the family are here, minus Elijah

Hi Sue

After reading what you have put on the sight I relooked at the 1851 Census Image I have on the Hales family. Always thinking that there was a daughter called Elizabeth but on checking there is no ref for a birth. So it looks like you are right and Elijah is down as Elizabeth. On the 1881 Census Elijah is down as Eliza.

Thanks for the help.

Alan
