Looking at family of George Matthews Pascoe who married Mary Hill 28 jun 1836. Contacted OPC in hope of a bann which would confirm whether father John Pascoe was alive or not Mystery with family> IGI's show Elizabeth Jane ch 25 dec 1838 Mawnan Olivia Pascoe ch 31 mar 1842 MAwnan JOhn Henry Pascoe ch 10 Jan 1845 Mawnan Lucinda Pascoe ch 18 jun 1848 Mawnan
1841 census Mawnan George 27, ag lab, Mary 37, Elizabeth 2
Now the fun part 1851 2 children have changed sex and name OLIVIA is OLIVER and LUCINDA is LOUSIA?? Phillack 191,Bodriggy, George Pascoe,Head,M,35,,Farm Lab,St Kevern Cornwall,, Mary Pascoe,Wife,M,,48,House Keeper,St Anthony Cornwall,, Eliza A. Pascoe,Dau,,,13,Asst. Housekeeper,Marazion Cornwall,, Oliver Pascoe,Son,,9,,Scholar,Marazion Cornwall,, John Hy. Pascoe,Son,,6,,Scholar,Marazion Cornwall,, Lousia Pascoe,Dau,,,2,,Marazion Cornwall,,
Haven't found them yet in 1861 to see what happens next. Anyone else with this family?? or can find them in later census
Would Mawnan registration be Falmouth??if so there is an OLIVIA and Lucinda Freebmd that matches. Could be 1851 enumerator mistake??

My problem/brickwall is that I have John Pascoe marrying Keturah Mathews at St Keverne, a sojourner and can't connect him or find his death. Then the family seem to go from there and get well established at Mawnan then some at Breage. With the Pascoes so strong in Mawnan the hunch has to be that they are sll connected somehow...but how

The George is a bit out of the blue, maybe named after a brother, ??the one you mention..I'm hopeful to grab at anything.
Have you got any JOhn's pre 1800 that you haven't found partners for??

Hi Althea,
Been wondering about having a look see. Fraid I haven't really helped
Looking at the 12 baptisms listed to this couple on the IGI (the Falmouth Wesleyan one does lists John as Labourer of Mawnan so one would think definitely one of theirs) I only see one burial
Francis PASCOE buried Mawnan 3 Aug 1829 aged 1
There is a John Mathew PASCOE 7 Jun 1826 aged 10 - thought he sounded like one but - No you would know about him - born Breage to John and Margaret. It does seem like you are up against it here. Looks like there may be an abundance of John Pascoe's about these parishes at this time.
The only John listed, seems too old and your couple had a son in 1832 so can't be him
John PASCOE buried Mawnam 24 Sep 1830 aged 70
Now I see Catura in Breage in 1841 aged 60. I don't spot her in 1851 in Breage so guessing she didn't live that long (Unless she is the 65 year old widow in Sithney)
As to John I can see he will be a hard one crack. We certainly seem overrun with John Pascoes. A burial for an age may help somewhat, alas no sign of it in St Keverne or Mawnan pre 1837, and sure you would have it if it was in Breage whatever the date. Good old common names for the children also to hope for a small clue as to his parentage Looking at sons names as a possible father 1771-1786 ish looks like by IGI anyway the more uncommon ones (Robert and Benjamin) can be ruled out (Mind you I haven't checked for coverage)
Kris
