I have an Ellen Clarke aged 8 on the 1901 census living with her grandparents Alfred and Ann Jones in Tyldesley Lancashire.
Her place of birth is given as Woose Shropshire. I can't find it on my map and haven't found a birth for Ellen in Shropshire on the IGI.
Does anyone know where Woose is?

Thanks for the info. I've also found a birth for a Louisa Ellen Clarke Market Drayton in Dec 1892.
The trouble is, I don't know who the parents are. Ann had 2 daughters Eliza Ann and Frances Olive with her husband Thomas Elliott and I know that it isn't them.
I've just discovered that Ann had 2 more daughters under the name Prescott. One was Ellen born 1866 (I haven't a trace of Ellen after the 1871 census) and the other Ann/Annie born 1870.
In 1901 Ann's grandaughter, Louisa is living next door. So, Ellen and Louisa are family names.
Will I have to order 3 certificates to find out who the parents were?

I've just found Ellen Clarke born newcastle 1867 on the 1901 census living in Woore Salop with 8 children. There's a marriage for Ellen Prescott and Charles Clarke in W. Derby in 1889; That district includes Toxteth Park where her parents were living on 1891 census.
I don't know why I couldn't find that before.
