Jane ELLISTON - Elmswell

Hi,  I am trying to find any information about Jane Elliston - my 3 great grandmother - and her family (parents, siblings, whatever).  I believe that she was born in Elmswell, Suffolk around 1798.  She subsequently married Robert Wright, also of Elmswell, and had 14 children (eek!), one of which was my 2 great grandfather, George Wright.  The Wrights were farmers and brickmakers in Kiln Lane, Elmswell (and seem to have done their fair share of populating the village).  I know that in the 1850s there were some Ellistons in the census for Elmswell but I don't know what, if any, connection they had to Jane.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Many thanks in advance :-)

Have looked at Familysearch.org, 1841/1851 Census and the conclusion is this I think.

A Marriage Licence was issued for Thomas Elliston of Gt. Thornham, 23, and Mary Green of Gt. Thornham. Bn. (don't know what that stands for) Robert Green - 18/9/1790.

Mary Green had an illeg. daughter Harriet bp.22/8/1790 (i.e. month before marriage) - this daughter married as Harriet Elliston Green of Elmswell to Wm. Mulley of Elmswell by licence.   Surety: Thomas Elliston of Elmswell 13/11/1815

Next child of Thomas and Mary was a Thomas bc.1792 Wyverstone who married a Mary Mulley 15/4/1824 Elmswell (it is he and his family who were living in Elmswell on census).

A Jane Elliston was b.20/9/1793, bp.17/11/1793 Wyverstone, dau. of Thomas Elliston and Mary Green.   I believe this is your Jane.   (On  1851 Census Jane Wright is shown as 54 i.e. bc.1797,  on 1841 Census she is 45, i.e. bc.1796 but as ages were rounded down she was probably born before 1796).

Mary Ann Elliston was bp.15/2/1801 Wyverstone dau. Thomas Elliston & Mary Green.

By 1804 Thomas and Mary had moved to Elmswell where a daughter Martha was bp.12/2/1804.

Another child appears to be John Green Elliston bc.1811 Elmswell.

(Another child may have been William Elliston bc.1796 Wyverstone who married Rebecca Cock 18/11/1819 per Bishops Transcripts -don't know where-so perhaps he was another child of Thomas and Mary.   In 1841 they were at Combust Bradfield and 1851 in Woolpit).

Unfortunately, the parishes the Ellistons lived in are not covered on the IGI for the relevant period and the entries that are shown have been submitted by members of the LDS church.   A William Elliston is shown to have been bp.16/11/1775 Thornham Magna, son of Nice Elliston and Sarah Malkin.   This couple are shown to have married 22/10/1779 some 4 years after the birth.   Nice Elliston is shown bc.1744  Thornham Magna and with a name like that must surely be a son of Nice Elliston and Sarah Alderton who married by licence 1/4/1735 Thrandeston.   Nice senior shown bc.1710 Wyverstone.

Whether this a red herring I don't know - in 1851 a Thomas Elliston, widr.,  82 (bc.1769) is lodging with a family named Furrow (or Farrow) in Elmswell.   He is described as 'Decaid Farmer securing relief' and born in Thorndon, Suffolk - he is shown as Blind.   He appears to have been living in Haughley in 1841.
