Hi All,
On sending for the death cert. of my Great Grandmother I dicovered that she died in the General Infirmary, Leicester in January 1905.
I thought that there were two main hospitals in Leicester: The City General and The Royal Infirmary - does anyone know whether the hospital in 1905 was either of these please?

Hi Mike,
Thanks for that - it sounds as if it has been through several stages
Although my great grandmother died in Leicester, her home was Heather, near Ashby de la Zouch at the time. I'll give you details just in case you might have Heather on your disc - I think that might be where she would be buried, although I'm not sure ...
Emma Bywater - died 25 January 1905. The age on her death cert. was 54 years - although she would have been around 62 in reality - she seemed to change her age after her marriage
My great grandfather, her husband, died later the same year and was, hopefully, buried with her:
William John Bywater - died September 14th 1905 at Heather. He was 57 when he died.
Both deaths were registered by their son, Henry Bywater, who lived at The Lodge, Heather - I don't know whether that helps!
Thanks for your interest Mike. Maggie

Hi again Mike,
Thank you so much - I didn't expect you to visit the Records Office for the information - but I'm really glad that you did
That completes the circle really for my Great Grandparents - the only thing I need to do now is visit Heather and see if I can find their gravestone which I will try to do in the near future
I am really grateful to you for your help with this - the last thing I was expecting from this post was such valuable information it is much appreciated.
Maggie

Hi Mike was just reading how you helped maggie and wondered if you could help me . I am trying to narrow down some dates and places of death for John and Ellen smith. He was born Woodford Hase 1855 and Ellen [nee Edden]eydon 1851 . I know they were in Attleborough at Gorse barn Cottage in 1901. I have several dates and places for them both in Tamworth, Aston Nuneaton for John and Tamworth Aston and Lutterworth for Ellen . Two of their sons were in that area around the time i have for Ellen in Lutterworth 1924 .Edden was i know in Willey at Farm Field cottage and George Edden was possibly claybrooke both farm labourers . I am wondering if they remained in Attleborough and John died Nuneaton 1919 and Ellen moved to be with Edden and George . Is there any way of checking on your disc for me . Thank you Tarnya

Mike you are a star can i ask what makes you think Ellen went to claybrooke and not Willey . Please will you look at records when you next go . Where are the records for that area kept ? I will look on the other site and ask for someone to check electoral rolls. Thanks again Tarnya
