Coll's of Clondahorky Parish
« on: Thursday 30 December 04 21:18 UTC (UK) »

I am researching all of the Coll families of Clondahorky Parish, in particular, the ones that lived in Derryfad, Drimnaraw, Drumnacarry, Creeslough, and surrounding area.  I am sure that all of the families are related to one another, somehow.  The Coll family I am researching in particular are...

Francis Coll married Margaret McCue who had kids...

John b: 14 May 1849 Derryfad m: Sophia McCarroll
Edward b: abt 1856 m: Margaret Cleary
Francis b: abt 1854 m: ?, was only child to stay in Ireland
Susan b: Mar 1851 m: Robert Boyce
Myles b: abt 1852 m: Margaret McMahon

Parents Francis and Margaret stayed in Ireland, along with son Francis.  The other siblings, emigrated to Scotland and USA.  Am trying to find son Francis who stayed behind with parents, and link him up somehow to a spouse, or any other relatives in the Clondahorky area.  To date I have no information on him, whatsoever.  He is a brick wall.

I have transcribed some of the parish records for Clondahorky parish, if interested, please visit my homepage at...

Hello Sylvia,

I was having problems trying to get to your homepage. This should make things easier.

Hi Christopher,

I am interested in the following information on your family tree...

Names
 Entry
 Resided
 Married
 Parents
 Witnesses

Coll, Rosa

McClafferty, Michael
 161
 Drumnaraw

Drumnaraw
 1890

oops, I forgot the date
 Peter Coll of Pittsburg, USA

Patrick McClafferty of Drumnaraw
Nigellas McClafferty of Drumnaraw Maria McHugh of Drumnacarry

Didn't paste too well! and I hope it was ok to do this?

I have been searching for relatives of My G Grandfather, Patrick McHugh b abt 1855 in Drumnaraw, Clondahorky Parish.
He is the son of 'Patrick McHugh' surprisingly enough!!!

I am still trying to find out exactly where Drumnaraw is - today?
The Maria McHugh of Drumnacarry, although a different Townland,
how near is Drumnacarry from Drumnaraw (if you know?)

Thank you

Sylv, I'm a descendant of the McHugh's from Drumnaraw - my GG Grandfather was
Patrick McHugh b c 1810 d c1871 - he married Hannah McFadden - their son Patrick
McHugh b c 1855 - (my G Grandfather) married Sarah Boyle b c 1855/6 in 1874 -St Columba's RC
Termon - Nr. Letterkenny - thereafter they migrated to Glasgow Scotland - had rather a large
family - their 2nd youngest son Charles McHugh/McCue was my Grandfather - b 1892.
There where McHugh's in Drumnakillew - which I'm led to believe are also related to the
Drumnaraw (Drimnaraw McHugh's)  I was in Drumnaraw in April 2008, where Barney McClaffery
Drumnaraw - took me to the old McHugh cottage.

Regards
Anne - Edinburgh
