William F PARTRIDGE buried Souldrop
« on: Sunday 18 November 07 22:14 GMT (UK) »

Hello,

The Souldrop monumental inscriptions record a William F Partridge 1872 - 1931, & along side is Florence Amelia Partridge 1879 - 1961.

I have found a marriage index of William F to Florence A Woods in Oct-Dec quarter 1914 at Bedford RD vol 3b page 811.

I have found Florence Amelia Woods born Souldrop, daughter to Charles & Jane Woods on the 1881/1891/1901 censuses, but not a William F Partridge.  However not to far away from the Woods family is George & Susannah (ne Headland) Partridge, but as far as I know they did not have a William ?

Any help or ideas welcome

Regards John

Hello John,

have you considered the birth on Free BMD:
William Frederick Partridge  Sept quarter 1872 Wellingborough Vol 3b pg 131

Then Family Search has a baptism for a William Frederick - August 1872 Bozeat, Northamptonshire- parents William and Emily.

Unfortunately, I can't find William and Emily  Sad

Just found a John and Emily in Bozeat
1881 RG11; Piece: 1567; Folio: 46; Page: 6
they have a William F aged 8 yrs.

1891 RG12; Piece: 1209; Folio 124; Page 5
he's still with John and Emily and is a leather clicker

1901 RG13; Piece: 1438; Folio: 119; Page: 1
still with parents and is a Boot clicker

you could get the marriage certificate to check father and occupation .

best wishes

Thanks Heywood.

William Frederick is the only entry on IGI baptism to the William and Emily. Other entries at Bozeat to parents John & Emily exist for John Warren 1861, Albert 1863, Christiana  1870; and all these names appear in censuses with the John & Emily you found.

Interesting to see that wife Emily was born 1840 Sharnbrook Beds.

There is FreeBMD marriage index with John  Partridge & Emily Warner in Oct/Dec 1860 at Wellingborough (3b/300)

Thanks to Sandy,  John Partridge, age 18 married Emily Warner, age 20, on 18 Nov 1860 at Bozeat

I'd now like to check out the Souldrop marriages for William & Florence in 1914 to see the other information.

The Oct/Dec 1914 Bedford RD marriage of William P to Florence Amelia was not in Souldrop, Knotting, Sharnbrook or Bletsoe. I will just have to keep looking.

Both the burial entries say their abode was Ringstead. Frederick buried 11 APR 1931 age 53? (very scribbled), Amelia buried 2 DEC 1961 age 81

Hi John,
sorry for being a bit obtuse but can you not just send for the marriage certificate?

hey, hey, heywood - I'm trying to save myself £7.00  - I am not too bothered

But why if they both living in Ringstead did they wish to be buried in Souldrop ?

if Florence came from there- perhaps it was the family grave  (and they didn't want to spend too much money- now who does that remind me of  Wink )

That's very good Heywood;  looking at the plan of the monuments when the  inscriptions came from, the Partridge's plot is only 2 up from Florence's parents Charles & Jane Woods buried 1931 & 1911 respectively.

that looks like a good enough reason - failing any other ideas.
