I think you're brave taking on a Smith family but anyway heregoes.
Nothing for the 3 lads in Nuneaton but working on the middle names
& in roughly the surrounding areas I have these marriages:
James Thomas Smith/Dec.1905/Solihull/6d/1169
to
Edith Marian Teague or Elizabeth Francis Whitlock
Dec.1905/Warwick/6d/1214
to
Annie Isabel Clifton
***************************************
William Ernest Smith
Mar.1906/Foleshill/6d/560
to
Alice Elizabeth Brittain or Clara Jane Cliff
Dec.1906/Cov./6d/1013
to
Louisa Cave or Edith Thornett
William E Smith
Jan.1914/Cov./6d/1398
to
Winifred Jackson
*******************************
John George Smith
Sep.1899/Sol./6d/1130
to
Clara Garnett or Millicent Alice Lyons
If you think any of these may be yours and send for the cert.
state father's name,if it the wrong one you will be refunded £3.50.

Jim
Thank you so much . I think Williams  middle name possibly would have been Edden so William E smith seems the best as Ernest does not feature as far as i know in our family. As for being brave in taking on the smith family tree i thought it would be easy as George Edden and Edden were both my grandads [parents were 1st cousins].That is why im trying to find john and Ellens whereabouts after 1901 so as to visit where they are burried. There is no trace of Edden in 1901 census he was 10 but not at Gorse Barn cottage. I have  BMD dates for him but nothing in between except 2 addresses for him in Willey for 1911 and 1919 where he was working as a farm labourer . Rumour has it that in about 1926 he went travelling leaving my  gran and my mum plus siblings. George Eddens in laws were the Kirby family who were related to a family or were themselves travelers . Edden may have joined them . He died in High view Hospital Exhall in 1957. Do you know what kind of hospital it was or how i can find John and Ellen after 1901. I do have different dates and places for deaths but with so many  i need to sort the right ones before ordering certificates .

Hi

I live in Bedworth and High View Hospital was in hospital lane, Bedworth.  I,m not sure if part of it is still there as there is a complex for the elderly there now called Richmond lodge, Bede village.  I did find this though

HIGH VIEW HOSPITAL, EXHALL. Foleshill Rural District Council opened an infectious diseases hospital in Exhall in 1905.  There were rarely enough cases from the Foleshill area and the overflow from the City Isolation Hospital was sent to Exhall. From 1920 to 1922 it was leased as a temporary tuberculosis sanatorium  and for about two years before 1930 it was unoccupied.  In 1930 it was reopened by Coventry corporation as a hospital for male mental defectives. In 1942, after the disruption of Coventry's hospital services during the bombing, temporary buildings were erected at Exhall, the mental patients were transferred to St. Margaret's Hospital, Great Barr (Staffs.), and the whole establishment, renamed Exhall Lodge Hospital, was opened in 1943 for chronic sick patients. In 1951 the name was changed again to High View Hospital, all able-bodied patients were removed to corporation old peoples' homes and the hospital was in 1959 graded as a geriatric hospital of 262 beds. Annexes, opened in 1944 at Gosford and Walsgrave, were closed in 1949 and 1951 respectively.

Hi Julie thanks for the High View hospital information .Edden died of Bronchial Asthma and Chronic Bronchitis. Guess thats what you get from being on the road if thats where he was . Also  requests on that web page are from a cousin of mine that i found on internet it is her that started me looking .
She sent me so much information but we cannot find deaths for John and Ellen as its such a common name.  I recently found my dads mums grave in Claybrooke it was unmarked also Grandad George Edden next to her . He died i have found out in 1944 so i never knew either of my grandads . As i have said i have a few dates for John and Ellen but no way of knowing which ones which.
I have Tamworth , Aston  for both of them . i do have one for John 1919 Nuneaton and i am wondering if it was him .Edden and George lived Claybrooke and Willey at that time i think so could Ellen have gone to be with them as i have a death for Ellen Smith Lutterworth 1924 but again its a guess.Would love to find John and Ellen and visit their grave so as i can send cousin a photo im sure it would make her day as she has been searching for ages with no luck . Who would be a Smith!!!!!

Hello Tarnya
I think I would go with your instinct as you know your family best.Send for the certs. & see how you get on,but if you can find their graves be ready for disappointment as many people didn't have headstones & some graves were used by more than one person.Good luck & let us know how you get on.
                                         Regards

I would click on the above link as julieproctor61 suggests as I did some work with pcjr (Australia) on the same family and feel you should get your heads together.

Hi Julie
Thank you for sending that information .  I wonder if  John carried on working there or if he had already left  . He did travel around working on Farms in 1891 he was in Whimpstone but apparently not there in 1894. I am at a loss on why they kept moving as farming was a steady buisness back then i thought so why did he not stay  in one place. As  most of the children were born in Eydon i guess he moved on to Daventry where 2 more children were born then to Whimpstone where my Grandad was born .  Do you know how i could find out more about Gorse Barn and see if they could shed any more light on John and Ellens Where a bouts after 1901.
Thanks again.
