Mum - what a cutie!

Hi
Having tried all avenues to find Jonathan Sleeman, including parish registers through the Family History centre, I am still hitting my head against a brick wall.
I was wondering if there is anyone local to South Hill who would be able to have a look for Jonathan's grave stone or even the record of his death to see where he might have come from. Or see if he can be found in birth registers in North Hill.
The definite details I have on him are: married to Mary Couch 1776 in North Hill, (there are no parents given on the wedding entry, both of this parish) where they had 4 children and then moved to South Hill around 1785. He died in 1835 his age then would have made his birthdate in 1737.
I have also tried online parish clerk for South Hill where I got some of my info from.
Any info or help much appreciated. If I don't break the wall soon, I'll have to start on another branch of the family up in Yorkshire!

Hi I'm afraid I'm not able to help with your request. I'm just amazed that he made it to 98, and that the last of their children appears to have been born in 1810 when he would have been 73.
It's a shame they didn't spend the whole time in South hill as there is so much info online for that parish.
By the way the IGI gives his wife as Mary Crouch or is this incorrect?
Good luck with your hunt Jacqui

Hi Fizzix and Toni
Jonathan, his son and grandson all lived to be ripe old ages and fathering children late in life, although Jonathan was 58 when his last child was born not 73 (there is another Jonathan Sleeman and Mary - haven't worked out his relationship yet).
Mary's name was Couch - Crouch is a transcript error and the witnesses were Richard Couch (mary's father or brother) and a Daniel Turner but he appeared as a witness on a number of weddings so don't think he as connected in anyway, possibly the verger.
