I'm searching for info on the Jeffs family of Ellesborugh and, in particular, for a birth/baptismal record of my great-great-grandmother, Adelaide Jeffs, who according to her census returns was born in Ellesborough or Butler's Cross around 1820. I know from the census that her mother was called Mary and was widowed by 1841, and from Adelaide's marriage certificate that her father was called John.
I have scoured microfiche of the Ellesborough parish records, but although I found many Jeffses living in Ellesborough, I can find no record of Adelaide's baptism. I did, however, find in the Prince's Risborough Nonconformist records a Ruth Jeffs, born in 1819 to John Jeffs and his wife Mary (nee Carter) of Ellesborough, whom I'm assuming is a sibling.
I'd love to hear from anyone else who is researching Jeffses in this area.
I'd also love to receive any suggestions of where else I might search for records of Adelaide's birth or baptism.
If I have the right Mary Jeffs in Ellesborough, it looks as though some of her children were born in Cublington.
There is a new-fangled IGI "I" batch for Cublington and other parishes, showing a baptism with parents John and Mary Jeffs (Ann Jeffs, 1813). However, at time of writing, the IGI won't let me check the full batch. No Adelaide, though.
