Chance family with Lewer middle name
« on: Wednesday 21 November 07 19:22 GMT (UK) »

does anyone have any information regarding Chance family with the middle name Lewer?  I am trying to trace back from George Lewer Chance who married Edith Lane 1911 in Kent.  The earliest reference I have of the Lewer/Chance connection is 1810 marriage of John Lewer Chance to Sarah Pullinger in Farnham Surrey.
There is however a predominance of Lewer Chance in the London area

thanks Barbara - I have those and a few in Farnham from the IGI.  That's whats led me on this trail to establish how the connection began.  I suspect it's from a marriage somewhere between a male Chance and female lewer.  It's one of those mysteries that bugs me until I get the answer!!!  The annoying thing is I haven't been able to trace them on the 1881 census.
