Hi
I've only just joined and so am a little unsure of myself.
I've been looking for my grandfather's immigration from England very unsuccessfully and hope that someone may be able to help.
His name was Ernest Lovell (James Ernest on birth cert but that was the last time the James appeared) b.1867 Nettlebridge, Somerset, England. Last found in Somerset June 1886 when he was witness at his brother's wedding. First found in Australia March 1889 when he married in Melbourne. Unlikely to be unassisted immigrant as he was a labourer and son of coalminer. Death cert in 1946 said 60yrs in Victoria. Marriage cert said usual address West Melbourne (but his bride was 6mths pregnant and her usual address was Bundaberg, Qld!).
I've tried every online site I can find but they mostly cut out at 1884 (too early). I've searched fiches (admittedly before the search was narrowed) until my eyes rolled.
Any suggestions very gratefully received. Thanks, Lyn

Hi Lyn
I have had no more success than you - but I would suggest that you start a new thread with your query. This thread was mainly meant for information only & folks will be more likely to see a new thread.

THANK YOU!!!
Without the link to the Unassisted Passenger Lists for Victoria, I would never have found my Grandfather and his family. I thought they went directly to NSW but I thought I would give it a try and there were 3 of them on the Medic in 1913, one of them was missing (the father) but he must have gone out earlier to arrange settlement.
Thanks again.
Michelle

Hi Chrissy
You might have more luck if you start a new thread with your request - this was meant to be an information only thread.
