Hi,
If anyone has access to Fyfield Parish records I would be grateful for some information.
I have a Richard Lay and wife Alice living here and christening nine children between 1741 and 1758.
I would be interested in finding out if the marriage took place here between
Benjamin Lay and Hannah sometime before 1782.
Also if Richard Lay married Alice here sometime prior to 1742

Hi, I think the Fyfield you are interested in is in fact in Gloucestershire. The Oxfordshire one is spelt Fifield where there are no Law baptisms listed

Thanks for this - are you looking at the Fifield near Milton under Wychwood Prs?
I never know which county my Fyfield (this one is between Kingston Bagpuize and Tubney/ Frilford) just west of Abingdon is in. Sometimes it is in Berkshire and sometimes Oxfordshire.

You are right - Fyfield as described is now in Oxfordshire, but was in Berkshire. From the PR transcript (transcribed and published by the Oxfordshire Family History Society):

Hi Peony, Yes I was looking at the Fifield near Milton under Wychwood. I didn't know there was another Fyfield in Oxfordshire that's why I thought the one just over the border in Gloucestershire was the one you were interested in.
