Hi grossan,
It appears Moor View is under
RG13/2187 District 7 (66 pages)
So far I have found entries finishing with houses 7 -10 unoccupied but then we get a different street
RG13/2187 Folio 48 Page 36

Kris - thanks for your help - strange that it stops at 10. The written address is definitely from 12, Moor View Terr. I wonder if it didn't exist in 1901 - the postcard I have is dated Dec.24th 1902 from that address - it shows a picture of Torpoint Ferry, Devonport grossan

Hi grossan,
It is simply listed as Moor View (not Moor View Terrace) presume it is the right place. I can see no others listed. I thought the street may continue elsewhere within those 66 pages. The entries are listed by the way the enumerator walked the streets, but I can't find any more listings for a continuation. Nor can I find it in 1891. Perhaps it was a new street ...........Kris

Moor View is still there in Torpoint - see ww.multimap.com
It is on the hill overlooking the Ferry, off Antony Road (main thoroughfare) and North Road. It continues to the SE as Salamanca Street, if that's any help, Kris.

Gadget - thank you for your input. I have looked at www.multimap.com having searched on it for 12, Moor View Terrace, Torpoint, Cornwall and it came up with the address but at the top of the map it states DEVON. Now I am totally confused!! grossan

Grossan
Believe me, Torpoint is in Cornwall. I lived just on the other side of the Tamar for 20 odd years and had friends in Torpoint. I've crossed on that ferry a fair few times - took my Dad twice . It is probably because Torpoint now has a Plymouth postcode - PLn .
Definitely Cornwall - some of my old mates would say it was heresy else
I did check to see if there was a Moor View Terrace in Devonport (Plymouth - Devon) but couldn't find one

I've just been looking on old-maps but sadly they are only showing the 1868 OS map and Moor View is just not there then. Just Salamanca Street

Hi Gadget - do you know what RSO means in the Torpoint address? I do take the point you emphasise re Torpoint being in Cornwall but multimap seems to be showing me a different area for Moor View Terrace than you see for Moor View - even though I programmed the search for Moor View Terrace, Torpoint, Cornwall. Intriguing eh! grossan

I don't know, grossan. Have you googled?
Are we looking at the same map - have you got Salamanca street to the south east?

Hi Jen
The Moor View Terrace is in the Mutley/Mannamead area of Plymouth - lived there too - no where near Torpoint
I'm now not sure what we're looking for.
The main line railway went across the Tamar bridge to Saltash rather than Torpoint. There were/are railway sidings near/under Mutley Plain in Plymouth and I think that Royal Mail did have a sub office there
Added - Grossan - do you have any franking mark on the postcard?

Firstly - thanks to you all for the trouble you have taken to try to sort my query out - I am now unable to decide where the writer of the postcard actually lived! As I previously said the address is hand written as 12 Moor View Terr: Torpoint R.S.O., Cornwall (in 1902). In the 1901 census that address didn't seem to exist - either in Cornwall or Devon - if only I had the surname of the writer - unfortunately only the initials H & C.P. and I cannot tie them to the recipient of the card.
Gadget - the franking on the card is DEVONPORT DE 24 02 or 03 - year not very clear - sent to Forest Gate in Essex with the postage of half penny. I find it interesting that the writer put R.S.O. in the adress but the franking doesn't show it. grossan
