Dalton - is there a cemetery?
« on: Saturday 24 November 07 11:38 GMT (UK) »

Is there a cemetery in/nearby Dalton, iv been to the old church (Holy Trinity?) but the graveyard is tiny - where was everyone buried? I am specifically looking for a grave in 1911 of a baby. However, i have found that my gg grandad WAS buried in holy trinity in an unmarked grave and that was in 1913 - why would he have been buried in sucha  small graveyard - i thought churchyards were reserved for more important people with family graves there!

Thanks
Alison

Hi Alison
I thought that a visit to Google Earth might save some legwork but there are 3 Daltons in Yorkshire. Rotherham, Thirsk and Huddersfield. Which one are you after and I'll take another look.

Cheers

Hi Alison
Nothing obvious I'm afraid, but this site looks interesting and follow the link to the Dalton site. The webmaster, John Doxey, might be able to help you and from the 'tone' of his site he certainly sounds helpful.

And for everyone else reading the  I think John Doxey's site is well worth a visit if you have a few moments to spare.
