patrick joseph keaveney

hello my grandfather came to england from glenamaddy in galway just after the 1901 english census and the first time he appears on record is when he got married 1910,is there anyway i can track down where he lived and what he was doing before 1910?hoping someone can help

No records of passengers between Ireland/Scotland/Wales/England were kept (and still aren't) because Ireland was part of U.K.
If he wasn't in U.K. for 1901 census you might be able to find him in Ireland. You can order 1901 Irish census on microfilm from your local LDS library (see catalogue at www.familysearch.org) for a small fee to be used there but you need to know what film to order (see catalogue). Also check information at top of Galway board here to see if parts of 1901 census are online.

thanks for that aghadowey i managed to get the irish 1901 census but i could,nt find him,is there a possibility he was in between the two countries at the time of both census,s?and if he was is there anyway i could find out?

It's more likely that he's been mis-transcribed somewhere- just think how difficult it might have been for an English enumerator to spell a surname heard with an Irish accent (although he could easily still be in Ireland under another spelling of his surname).

hello aghadowey thanks for your tip on the spelling,well i think i,ve tracked patrick keaveney down to durham in the 1901 census,his name is spealt keaveny without the last "E",it says he was born in ireland,is there anyway i could find out whereabouts? and where he went to after 1901?

1911 census for England is in the process of becoming available (pay per view) but not all areas are online yet.

Am puzzled because your first post says he was from Glenmaddy, Galway.
If he was born after 1864 in Ireland you should be able to order his birth certificate (however, you need to take care because there could be several with the same name born in the same area around the same date).

hello again,yes i know my grandad was born in glenamaddy but i,m hoping the one in durham is him thats why i was trying to find out if this one was born there and thanks again

1911 census might be the only way of finding a birthplace for the one in Durham.
