Horton/Bradburn in Donnington
« on: Thursday 29 November 07 14:16 GMT (UK) »

Hi, I'm new to rootschat and this is my first posting. Here goes. My gggrandmother Emma Horton was born in 1841 in Wolverhampton, dau. of Thomas and Emma. I've found the family in the 1851 census, still in Wolverhampton, but by 1861 Emma's siblings (Sabina, Eliza, Elizabeth) had left home. I can find the siblings, all still in Wolverhampton, but not Emma or her parents. In 1862 Emma married Joseph Bradbourne/Bradburn in Lilleshall parish church. I'd really like to know where she lived between 1851 and 1862, and how she came to live in Shropshire. My grandmother claimed that the family was related to the Hortons who at one time owned/managed the Lilleshall Company but this may just be another one of those family myths. If they are related then they are definitely the poor relations!  Sad

Thanks Pete for the useful info, and for the link. I'm really interested in finding out more about how my ancestors lived so this is really great stuff. Do you have any more details of the Kingswinford possibility?
