Thanks all - it is appreciated. I guess I will have to go with Barnby whichever it may be. The lady also has a very unusual surname Mahinore ?

It looked for all the world like mahmore to me...but I think it may be Masimore, due to the dotting of an I, which made me see the lower draw back on the letter before to be a script "s".......J.J.

Thanks All Yes I also took a look at the ancestry transcription but as JJ says there is a dot from an i I was just hoping the surname may be familiar to someone Although the transcriber for this area in Notts was pretty adventurous with some of his spellings I am starting to wonder if it was Millner or Malliner or Mallinore or something that sounded like that.

Thanks Heywood I think it is perhaps Mutimore - but what an unusual name - have never heard that one before. I have checked out freebmd and searched for any record showing Mutimore and there are a few - about 15 BMDs - mostly Chesterfield and the one you mentioned in Belper. I think the 1851 family you found must also be them - the Barnby connection is uncanny although the counties have moved! South & North Wingfield are not too far from where she was a servant in 1861 in Selston Notts. Thanks for all your help. For my purposes I am going with Mutimore - rare though it is !
