Hi Heather
Thanks for looking at these although I must confess that I have got most of this info via IGI apart from witnesses etc. However on the IGI there are 2 Elizabeths, the one you quote and then another 15/2/1803 to the same parents so one can assume the younger Elizabeth didn't survive long.
Keep em coming though, this is great!

Hi Doggy The records I have for Ruabon do not cover 1803, so I guess Elizabeth mark 2 must be the one.

Hi
Just to let you know that I have found BrynLlewenydd via another source and Gadget was right it was a farmhouse and very local:
According to Palmer's "The History of the Parish of Ruabon": "Bryn Llewenydd is the name of a farmhouse within the area in Dinhinlle Issa, now called simply The Bryn".
And in "Remembering Ruabon": "Bryn Llawenydd. The house is dated 1749 perhaps with earlier origins, re-modelled in the early part of the 19th century with extensions to the rear." When Penylan Church was built in 1889, as a private church for the Penylan Estate, the chaplain lived at Bryn Llawenydd. It was later used by the Ormrod family who owned the Penylan Estate.

Grief Doggy
I kept looking at The Bryn and lower Bryn or whatever - all around DI and Cinders etc.
Glad you've found it.
My Job Parry was born DI so am used to scanning that area.

Woof
You're all going to get sick of me. Now to find my John JONES. Any one able to check if there was a baptism showing Bryn Llawenydd as the address 1800ish. Longshot but what the hell!
Cheers

I'd say 1790 -1805 time but Paul might be able to find the death and age. It would be more than likely DI.
However, he could have just been a farm labourer at Bryn whatsit and not born there!

Could I ask a question?
How are you sure that the Eliza/Elizabeth Jones b. c. 1839, mother of Edward, was the daughter of Elizabeth Drury and John Jones

There are about 21 John Jones bpt. 1790 -1802, Ruabon.
However, I've found one in Crimbal (sic) :
1793 July 12, son of John and Mary
one DI :
August 27 1797 s.of Edward and Anne
This is a bit daft - we need an approximate age!

I agree it is a bit daft but good fun.
I need to try and get Eliza's birth cert abd take it from there. My evidence is through the census returns where an Eliza d/o Elizabeth 1803 plus the other siblings I knew about were all living together so I'm pretty confident. Next step is the birth cert. It won't tell me John's age though
I'll keep you posted Doggy

- a word of warning and don't build your hopes up. There was another Elizabeth bpt. Ruabon 1839 that I found on the other thread. The cert could be her.
Not everyone registered births in those days.
