pyworthy - William BRENT
« on: Wednesday 28 November 07 15:21 GMT (UK) »

Hi

I wonder if anyone could help me in tracing the existence of William Brent whom I am told was baptised in Pyworthy on 28 April 1768. He married Susanna Parsons in Black Torrington in 1791 but she was born in 1759 so would have been 9 years older than him, a point worth checking.

His parents then would have been William and Mary so I would like to know if there is anything that could be found out about them.

Thanks.

I found this on national Archives ...if the William Brent in my last post is yours ...this could possibly be a will....

Information relating to document ref. no. 1078/IRW/B/1430
William Brent of West Putford, Devon
Date: 1841

added~ William and Susanna had quite a few children ...do you have the info ?

This is very interesting.  I have 5 children born in Black Torrington to William and Susanna - Susanna, William (b 1793), John, Richard and Josiah.
William and Susanna's son John bn 1796 came from BT to West Putford where he - described as a sojourner - married his wife but I don't know whether he met her while visiting other Brent relations there.

Neither do I know how these WP Williams are related to mine. In the 1841 census there is a William born in BT in1801 who has living with him Roger and Mary Parsons (his daughter and son in law). I believe that is my William and he is more accurately dated in 1851 as born around 1794 in BT. The IGI has a William born in WP in 1808 to William and Grace who is probably the one you found so I don't think he is mine.

Bearing in mind the fact that the will is of a William of WP I don't think it will be of that much interest to me but I will keep it in mind.

Thank you so very much for trying to help me. It would have been brilliant if you had found my lot but I think they are a different but closely related branch.
