Hi
Is anyone able to provide any information on John Youle (Yule) (b.abt 1790) and Ann Mitchell (b.abt 1787) (e.g. DOB, Marriage date, further children). According to information passed down to me they are the parents of Thomas Yule who married Catherine Dunbar on July 30th 1839 in Crimond, Lonmay Aberdeenshire (O.P.R. Marriages 219/ 0030 0139 Lonmay). Thomas Yule was born abt 1821.
The dates of birth of John and Ann have also been passed on to me so I don't know how correct these are.
My searches have proved fruitless. Thank you.

Hi the only definite information I have is that they are listed as the parents of Thomas Yule on his marriage certificate.

Hi Roy
Have done a search for Thomas and any siblings on Scotland's People and no records with those parents. However this may well mean that they were not Church of Scotland which would explain why the records are not there. Do you know what religion they were ?
I also came up with a blank trying to find a Youle(Yule)/Mitchell marriage fraid.
This would appear to be your Thomas' death cert which is on Scotland's People. This does confirm parents as John and Ann Mitchell (both deceased) and his widow as Catherine Dunbar. The death informant was son Thomas.
1874 YULE THOMAS M 53 OLD DEER /ABERDEEN 228/00 0027
If you pm me your email address I will send a copy of the cert to you
Best wishes
Ann

Hi Roy
I think I have found John and Ann's Death certs. If I have the right ones John died in 1861 aged 71. His father was John and mum Sophia Robertson.
Ann died in 1870 aged 85 so the dates of birth you have are pretty close. Spot on for John.
I will include the copies in the email
Cheers
Ann

roycymru,
The IGI has extracted records for the marriage of John YULE & Sophia ROBERTSON - presumably Banns proclaimed in both the bride's and the groom's parishes: 9 Jan 1785 Lonmay 28 Jan 1785 Crimond
There is also the following LDS submission in the IGI: John YULE, parents John YULE & Sophia ROBERTSON Birth 1790 Crimond Death 25 Jan 1861 Crimond
And the following LDS submission: Ann MITCHELL, spouse John YULE Birth 1787 Crimond Death 13 Dec 1870 Crimond
The IGI has LDS submissions for the following children of John YULE & Ann MITCHELL, all b Crimond: Sophia b 1812, d 22 Dec 1857 Thomas b 1821 Margaret b 22 Oct 1822 Isobel b 1824 The above have no source information or batch numbers. There is also: Sophia bap 7 May 1811, d 22 Dec 1857 - this has a batch number; the batch includes children of a George HUTCHINSON and Sophia YULE (the family is in the 1841 and 1851 censuses on FreeCEN as HUTCHEON).
Interestingly, there are several extracted entries for children of a John YULE (sadly the mother is not named) in the Lonmay Episcopal (i.e. Anglican) Church as follows (omitting much earlier and later baptisms): James YOOL bap 13 Jan 1808 Sophia YOOL bap 11 Jun 1811 Janet YOOL bap 1813 Magdaline YOOL bap 10 Mar 1815 Ann YOOL bap 8 Sep 1816 John YOOL bap 21 Oct 1818 Elspit YULE bap 14 Dec 1826 There's an LDS submission for Magdalene's marriage (also an extracted entry) and her death in 1899 - I guess if that certificate lists her mother, it would show whether she is a child of John Y & Ann MITCHELL or not.
An Ann MITCHEL, parents James MITCHEL & Janet ELRICK, was bap 4 Jun 1786, Crimond - a possibility?
The 1841 census on FreeCEN has John 50, Ann 55, and Isabel 15 YULE at Longhill, Crimond The 1851 census on FreeCEN has, still at Longhill Crimond, John 61, Ann 64 YOULE, both born Crimond.
Regards,
JAP

Hi
I have managed to confirm a couple of things (based on certificates very kindly supplied by Ann) and am still looking into the others. You will note the changing of the spelling of Yule which doesn't help with the tracing.
References are scotlandspeople ones.
Ann Youl death (85), 13 Dec 1870, Crimond. Married John Youl, parents James Mitchell Janet Elrick (1870 Yool, Ann 184/00 0015). John Youl son present
John Youll death (71), Jan 25 1861, Crimond, Married Ann Mitchell (faint but in bottom left hand corner), parents John Youll and Sophia Robertson. John Youll son present. (1861 Youll, John 184/00 0003)
Thomas Yule (my second great grandfather) death (53), Old Deer, Aberdeen 16 March 1874. Married Catherin Dunbar, Patents John Yule and Ann Mitchell, Thomas Yule son present (1874 Yule, Thomas 228/00/0027)
The sons John and Thomas seem to tie in with your research.
I haven't been able to find a reference for the marriage of John Yule (Youl, Youll) to Ann Mitchell. With your superior search skills I would be grateful if you could continue to look for a reference to this.

Hello roycymru,
It looks as though marriage records for the relevant time are missing.
I've just looked in the Family History Library catalogue on FamilySearch.
Crimond OPR Marriages: missing years Aug 1789-1851
Lonmay Episcopal Marriages: 1727-1732, 1826-1854 i.e. 1733-1825 missing
Pity!
