Birth lookup please, Sarah Ann Mills
« on: Friday 30 November 07 10:17 GMT (UK) »

Hi
would anyone have information on Sarah Ann Mills born in Shirehampton Gloucestershire in c1848, father Robert Mills born c1829 Bristol mother unknown. I have her marriage certificate, which lists Robert and Bridget as her parents  when Bridget in fact was her step mother.  I applied for her birth certificate but it was incorrect, listed her father as George.

I would like to find out her mothers maiden name. Sarah's father remarried in 1856, it states his condition as widower on his second marriage certificate. I have looked for a marriage for him previous to 1848 but didn't find anything as I don't know where he married.
If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.

The LDS have filmed the Shirehampton Bishop's Transcripts for the years 1844 to 1874 but the data in the BT's has not been extracted.

I could not find a Sarah Ann Mills born in Shirehampton in the 1851 census.

Looked for Robert in Monmouthshire 1851 - no joy Sad

Have you any more details which might help?

If you are within easy reach of an LDS church I suggest you visit their Family Research Centre and order LDS film number 1595677.  It will take a few weeks to arrive then be available for viewing for three weeks or so.  The cost is not very much Cool

Regards

Chas

Hi Chas & Alli

Thank you for replying. I took Sarah's birth date from her marriage certificate. Married in August 1872 aged 24 so I thought 1848. I know the census has different ages for her.
The family on the census is correct they are my family. Robert was my great great grandfather. I don't have much information on him only that he was a gentleman's servant born in Bristol. His father was William Mills.

Maybe Sarah's mother died in childbirth. I don't know what year they moved to Wales I first found them on the 1861  Wales census.
Thank you for the film number. There is a LDS centre about 20 miles from me. I will try to get there during the school holidays.
Again thank you both.
