Brambridge
« on: Sunday 02 December 07 09:40 GMT (UK) »

Does anyone know of a place called Brambridge in WAR?

There are 2 children (Thomas and Mary Ann SMITH aged 11 and 9yrs) listed as being born there on the 1851 Census. They are with their uncle and aunt William and Mary ORME HO107/2084/261/25.

As Mary's maiden name was SMITH, I think that they're  probably the children of her brother or sister. This family of SMITHs were from LEI. I've narrowed the possible parents down to 2 siblings: Frances who definately lived in WAR - married there in 1843; and Thomas who might possibly have been married and widowed before moving to STS.

Frances seems the more likely. She lived in the Meriden/Hampton-in-Arden area. Could Brambridge be Stonebridge? Am I clutching at straws?

Thanks Pels

You're right - I don't know how they got Brambridge out of that!

I think I may have found the christenings on the IGI at St Phillips. I'll soon be on my merry way again

Thanks
