Hello Carmel

I haven't had much success unfortunately. I couldn't find Walter or James, but found Marion listed as a 15 year old servant from Kirkintilloch. She's in the house of David Muir, a 38 year old farmer. Address is given as Stubilee, Oxgang, Kikintilloch.

Thanks Isobel
When Walter died in Jun 1861 his address was Eastside  Kirkintilloch and he was a naval pensioner and he was also in Eastside Street in 1841 if that is any help.  However he may have been staying with a married daughter in 1851.  Ann Watson was in Glasgow Lanark so I'll look there if he's not at home.
Regards, Carmel

There were a lot of  Semples in Kirkintilloch and I am researching the Cuthell family of Walter's wife so don't know about the others but the only Thomas I have was born 1816 and with that I doubt the James is correct one either since the one I want was born 1833 so only 17 or 18.

Sorry, but that's the only James Semple in Kirkintilloch at that time. I hope someone can find your man.

Good luck.
