2 Andrew McLanachans
« on: Friday 06 June 08 15:04 BST (UK) »

I am very puzzled I have 2 Andrew McLanachan's( can be spelt McClanachan) both born abt 1832/34 in Cumnock. One with parents Andrew McLanachan and Janet Stillie and this 1st Andrew married Nicholas Black and died 1855. Andrew No.2 had parents of William McLanachan and Janet Key and he married Penelope Baird and died in 1919. The details of the later I obtained from his death cert. Where the problem arises is that some kind person allowed me to view their tree and they have Andrew No1 married to Penelope. If anyone understands my ramblings can you please help Huh

Hello Angie B

From the IGI - all 'extracted' records

Andrew McLanachan married Penelope/y Baird on 16 Jan 1863 Old Cumnock Ayr
Children - all born Kilmarnock, Ayr

1.  Hugh b.  30 Mar 1868 - twin
2.  John  b.  30 Mar 1868- twin
3.  Margaret Ray  b.  30 Jun 1870
4.  Andrew  b.  21 Jun 1873

All the above can be downloaded from the pay per view site www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

If this is 'your' family - ignore the other.  Of note, there is a Penelope Baird in Old Cumnock - marrying a John Mckerrow on 15 Jul 1859.  I'd get the marriage cert for the 1863 marriage and see if she is a widow - will also give both sets of parents and mothers maiden names.

Regards,    Steve   :O)

The IGI shows only this marriage of an Andrew McLanachan or variant being married from 1845 to 1865.
