Salford Street Name Origin's (Hankinson Street)

I'm trying to work out if Hankinson Street in Salford was named after one of my boyfriend's relatives. His father has always told him that it was named after his great grandfather but I wondered if there was any way of finding out whether this is true. Anyone got any ideas how I would go about researching this???

I know it is a while since the post was written but having only just gone through the site I have come across your query..I have a book on Hanky Park that lsits all the original residents and possible people the street was named after. If you contact me I will let you know what it says if you have not already found out..All the best

the book you have on hanky park, does that mention anyone witht he name Peter Hankinson? he was my grandad and we are trying to find some info on him
