"Forever Searching, Forever Learning"
|
Hi Jennie
Thanks for the private message:
Hi Chris Re 1891 Yorkshire census Could you please possibly do a lookup for me? My husband's great-grandmother was born at Aukendale, near Knaresborough, in 1885. Her name was Elizabeth Shepherd (but I've seen it spelled Sheppard and Shephard as well, so far!!!) She was the daughter of John Joseph Shepherd (born 1844 St Helens, Lancs) and Isabella Rymer Willoughby (born 1859 Pilmoor). In the 1881 census, John and Isabella were at Norton le Clay with their 1-year-old son John. In 1891 John Joseph and Isabella were, I hope, either at Aukendale or Norton le Clay. Would it be possible to have a look for them?
This may be what you are looking for:
RG12/ 3881/ Folio 73/ Page 5 – Wingate Hill Cottages, Stutton with Hazelwood, Tadcaster, Yorks.
SHEPHARD Joseph, Head, Marr, 42, Stockman (Agr) born St Helens, Lancs Isabella, Wife, Marr, 32, born Tillmoor, Yorks John, Son, Unm, 11, Schoolboy, born Canton w Gilling, Yorks Alice, Dau, Unm, 7, Schoolgirl, born Newton le Cloy, Elizabeth, Dau, Unm, 5, born Knaresborough.
Hope that helps with your research

Although it has been transcribed as Shephard - it really does look like Shepherd
